Set against the back drop of a party, as the narrative unfolds so do a series of the survival stories of the women guests. Survivors' is a collection of thirteen stories of thirteen fictional women who have undergone various forms of abuse, including rape, domestic violence and child-abuse. However, as the title would suggest, the tone of the book is far from negative and all thirteen women are empowered to move forward from the damaging impact of their individual traumas.At the end of the book, we are left with the hope that these brave women's stories will inspire readers with their emphasis on positive survival. This ending is additionally a reflection of the book itself, which extends a message of affirmation and encouragement to all who have encountered abuse in some form. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to support the work of Safe Steps, a charity working to end domestic and sexual abuse in Southend and surrounding areas.
